Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: Can I make pre-arrangements for accessible seating?
A: Yes, with space allowing. Please contact us in advance for arrangements.
Q: Why can't I purchase reserved seats?
A: Although we the Alamo Drafthouse traditionally provides reserved seating, weekend pass holders for Lost Weekend often come and go throughout the weekend and don't participate in every screening. Additionally, we often screen two films at one time in different auditoriums, so reserved seating would require a reserved seat in multiple auditoriums at the same time.
Q: Do I have to purchase new popcorn and sodas at the beginning of each film?
A: No. If you buy bottomless options (popcorn, soda, tea, coffee, lemonade) in the morning, you can refill throughout the day. Just save your initial receipt in case you move auditoriums or leave the building during the day. You will, however, need to repurchase your bottomless options each day. For popcorn, please keep in mind that you may refill only popcorn of equal or lesser value.
Q: Can I just come see one film?
A: Possibly. Based on our rental agreements, we will sometimes allow ticket sales to selected individual movies. Check our regular ticketing options for the day to see if your film is available. Additionally, we always pick some titles to play in the days leading up to or following the festival, so you may have more than one chance to see your desired film. If weekend passes sell out, however, we would not offer individual seats to any film in the festival.
Q: Ugh! There are two movies playing at the same time and I want to see them both!
A: While you may occasionally have to make a decision between two films, we strive to only schedule two films simultaneously if one of the films has had a wider release before the festival or if we are planning multiple screenings of one title.
Q: I have my weekend pass and I noticed one of the films in the schedule also plays twice outside of the festival weekend. Can I come to those other showtimes with my weekend pass?
A: Yes, as long as the movie plays within 7 days of the festival. For instance, if a movie is listed in our official Lost Weekend lineup but plays again the Wednesday after the festival (three days after the festival ends) you can use your weekend pass to come to that screening. If, however, a movie from the festival returns two months later, you may no longer use your pass for entry.
Q: Can I use my Alamo Season Pass for a weekend pass?
A: No.
Q: Why are tickets so inexpensive?
A: We are able to offer a low ticket price due to costs being offset by our wonderful sponsors.
Q: Can my non-profit be considered for the silent auction?
A: Sure! Contact us to discuss.
Q: Do you provide charging stations for electric cars?
A: There are four Shell Recharge stations in the center, including two directly in front of the theater. The charge is not free, and the Alamo does not receive any monies from these stations.
Q: Are there hotels nearby?
A: Yes. There are two hotels that share a parking lot with the theater. Click here for more information.
MENU AND FOOD
Q: I have dietary restrictions. Can I bring my own food?
A: While we do not allow outside food, our menu does offer options for vegans, vegetarians, and those with gluten sensitivities. Feel free to contact us in advance with specific questions and make sure to alert your server if you have concerns.
Q: Can I see the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema menu?
A: Sure! Check out our menu here. Also note that Lost Weekend includes several additional food specials on a separate menu.
Q: Are there other restaurants nearby?
A: Yes. There are seven other restaurants in Kernstown Commons with the theater. Click here for some of our recommendations.
Q: Do I have to buy a minimum amount of food and drinks during the screenings?
A: No.
SUBMITTING A FILM
Q: Do you require a premiere?
A: No, but let us know if your film would have any premiere status (theatrical, World, U.S., East Coast, Virginia, etc)
Q: Can I get a waiver code?
A: No. Due to the number of submissions we receive (and in the spirit of fairness), we do not offer waiver codes.
Q: Can I submit a working cut?
A: No. We ask that you only submit your finished film.
Q: What file types do you require?
A: We can download your film from FilmFreeway if accepted. If you have an MP4 or MOV, we will make a DCP for the screening. If you have a DCP you would like to provide, that is even better!
Q: Can I submit more than one film or a previously submitted film?
A: You can submit as many films as you would like, but each needs to be a separate submission on FilmFreeway. Please do not submit a previously submitted film. Also, please note we are not likely to accept more than one film per filmmaker.
