CUT ME SUMMA DAT NOISE 

Genre: Dance.  Director: Cara Hagan 

Content Warning: Flashing 

Nominated for Best Music/Dance Short in the Lost Weekend Awards, this multiple-award winning short has played at over 20 festivals to date and features Handley High alum Dawn Drake.  Don’t miss the purple vinyl from Dawn’s band Zapote, up for bids in our silent auction. 

 

I’M NOT SURE 

Genre: Drama.  Director: Mylissa Fitzsimmons 

We are kicking off Lost Weekend with Mylissa Fitzsimmons’ The Long Run, and we share more of her work with this stunning short.  Lost Weekend Award Nomination for Best Drama Short.  Mylissa will join the post-screening Q&A.  

 

TECH REHEARSAL 

Genre: Comedy.  Director: Blayne Weaver. Producer: Steve Nerangis 

WORLD PREMIERE 

Director Blayne Weaver is well-known in Winchester as the director of features such as Miss Valentine and Santa Girl, which were produced with The Film Studio at Shenandoah University.  Blayne is also known for his writing and acting in such projects as Manic (with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Don Cheadle and Zooey Deschanel)  and American Pie: Girls’ Rules.  Lost Weekend Award nomination for Best Comedy Short.  Blayne will join the post-screening Q&A 

 

ANIMAL 

Genre: Sci-Fi.  Director: Lauren Adams 

Later in the day, we will revisit Greener Grass with director Lauren Adams (Unbreakable Kimmy Schimdt, Upright Citizens Brigade).  For an appetizer we have Animal, a sci-fi outing starring Dot-Marie Jones (TV’s “Glee”, Greener Grass, The Boondock Saints).  Director Lauren Adams will join the Q&A.  Animal is up for Best Sci-Fi Short.  

 

YAZIDI 

Genre: Documentary.  Directors: Jacqui Ris and Colin J. Mason 

From our dear friends at Mirandum Pictures comes an unforgettable short that will be followed by unforgettable stories of the production from directors Jacqui Ris and Colin J. Mason in the post-screening Q&A.  Lost Weekend Award nomination for Best Documentary Short. 

 

WORMULUS 

Genre: Horror.  Director: Peyton Leopold 

WORLD PREMIERE 

Content Warning: Flashing 

You may remember Peyton Leopold as a Lost Weekend guest and from her VEFF-winning shorts Pluto’s On Fire, I Heart Katy, and Heather.  Peyton is also a producer on the film JIT that will have its World Premiere at the Alamo on Monday (and you can go with your Lost Weekend Pass!).  In the meantime, enjoy this 2-minute brain-melter, shot on 16mm film.  Peyton plans to join us for the Q&A. 

 

SOFIA 

Genre: Comedy.  Director: Camila Franco Ribeiro Gomide. Producer: Ariel Baska 

A Brazilian gets a Brazilian!  Nominated for a Lost Weekend Award, Best Comedy Short. 

 

CHASERS 

Genre: Drama.  Director: Erin Brown Thomas 

A short that premiered at Sundance and was the first-ever to play BOTH Sundance and Slamdance.  An absolute stunner that is sure to be one of the most discussed films of Lost Weekend.  Lost Weekend Award nominations:  Best Short, Best Drama Short, Best Director.
